Michael H. Michaud
Mike Michaud was born in Medway, Maine and worked at the same paper mill as his father and grandfather. Michaud first entered
politics in effort to clean up the Penobscot River that was badly polluted at the time. He was elected into the Maine House
of Representatives in 1980 and served seven consecutive terms. Mike was the first Franco-American to be elected into the Federal
Office of Maine. He now resides in East Millinocket, Maine.
In 1994, Michaud defeated a millionaire incumbent in his first bid for the Maine Senate, despite huge Republican
victories across the country and went on to represent one of the most Republican districts in the state for four terms. Mike
Michaud was sworn into the United States Congress from Maine’s Second Congressional District on November 5, 2002 after
having won a six way primary for his party’s nomination.
Today Mike Michaud is very well known in Washington. The Michael H. Michaud Technology Center named after him in recognition
of his critical leadership in securing the College Board’s Education Award. Hopfully Mike Michaud will help out state
even mor in the Congress in the years to follow.

Olympia J. Snowe
Olympia Snowe was borne on February 21, 1947 in Augusta, Maine. She was
the daughter of the late George Bouchles, a native of Mytilene, Greece. After her parents died she was raised by her Aunt
and Uncle. She attended St. Basil’s Academy and earned a degree in political science from the University of Maine in
1969. After the death of her husband Peter snow in 1972, she took his place in the Maine House.
In her first term in the U.S. Senate she was apointed to leadership as a Deputy Whip and in 1997 was elevated to the position
of Counsel to the Assistant Majority Leader. Snowe has worked extensively on a number of issus, such as: budget and fiscal
responsibility;education, including student financial aid and education thechnology; national security; women’s issues;
health care, and much more.
Olympia Snowe is well known in Washington for her experiences in so many areas of government and how many
problems she has worked on. Olympia Snowe is the only Republican woman to secure a full term seat on the congress. If all
goes well she will and all the other Maine representatives will help us through these rough times.
